Infertility isn’t fun, and it certainly isn’t uncommon. It can be daunting trying for a baby without success, but in most cases, it’s important to remember that it won’t happen right away. When you’ve been trying for a while, it can be difficult to know what to do next and where to go for support. So in our final week together, we’re going to have a look at what steps you should take when it’s time to consult with a fertility specialist.
It can be hard to know when it’s time to seek help – especially if you think ‘help’ will be launching you into fertility treatment. The good news is, not all women and couples who seek fertility assistance will need major treatments; in fact; three in four couples won’t need IVF and are able to conceive through much simpler, less invasive treatments.
As we are set to say goodbye and wish you well on your journey, we want to leave you with this – Ultimately, what you choose to do next is up to you. Equip yourself with knowledge and take the next steps when you’re ready. No two paths will be the same, and it’s important to look after yourself, remember why you are doing this and remember that you are not alone.
“The road to fertility wasn’t easy. I thought I knew what I wanted and I thought it would be easy, but it took me years to eventually have what I had always dreamed of – my baby girl. It’s safe to say I wasn’t totally informed about my chances. My life is so different now and being a Mum to a one-year-old certainly has its challenges, but the stress, anxiety, moments of total unknowing… it was all worth it.”
